Toshiba Tec Group states in its Corporate Philosophy; "We put concern for the environment as a priority in all our business activities so as to protect people's safety and health as well as the world's natural resources."

Therefore, we are committed to addressing environmental issues with a genuine attitude, to build a sustainable society.

However, it is essential not only for Toshiba Tec Group but also for people in different positions over the world, to recognize such a commitment, in order to address environmental issues in society and advance environmental activities together. Thus, we are improving communications throughout a variety of media, for people to understand its stance and activities toward environmental protection.

Global Environmental Action

In the 7th Environmental Action Plan, we are promoting communication activities in collaboration with local residents, NPOs/NGOs, government, and employees, with the aim of building networks with stakeholders.
We have established activities under five themes of “Energy,” “Resources,” “Chemical Substances,” “Water,” and “Nature,” and are rolling out globally environmental contribution activities by setting recommended themes each fiscal year.
In FY2022, a total of 111 activities were conducted under the recommended theme of “Resources.”

Environmental Report, Site Report

Since 2000, we have been annually issuing the English and Japanese versions of Environmental Report (renamed to CSR Report in 2005, and Integrated Report in 2019). Each business site has also been issuing a Site Report, to disclose information to local communities and administrations.

Sompo Sustainability Index

Toshiba Tec was selected again, following the previous year, as a constituent of the Sompo Sustainability Index, which is independently developed by Sompo Asset Management Co., Ltd. The constituents of the index will be referenced in the company’s Sompo Sustainable Asset Management. Sompo Sustainable Asset Management is an ESG asset management product for pension funds and institutional investors, which was launched in August 2012 by Sompo Asset Management Co., Ltd. and invests in a wide range of companies highly recognized for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. Toshiba Tec has been selected for six consecutive years in recognition of its ESG initiatives.

Hybrid MFP Loops LP35/45/50 won two awards: EcoPro Award and Eco Mark Award

The contribution the hybrid MFP makes to the SDGs has been recognized, and eventually won two awards: Excellence Award at the 1st EcoPro Awards and Eco Mark Award 2018 Excellence Award, for enabling regular printing as well as erasable printing on one single device.

The vertical image processing scanner IS-910T received the Minister of the Environment Award for the Prevention of Global Warming

In November 2014, the POS system with the use of the IS-910T vertical image processing scanner received the Minister of the Environment Award for the Prevention of Global Warming in the Technological Development and Commercialization Category as elimination of packaging materials and bar code labels from products was recognized.

METI Minister’s Award of Green IT 2013

In September 2013, the "Loops" Paper Reusing System won the METI Minister’s Award of Green IT 2013 (energy conservation through the use of IT) hosted by the Green IT Promotion Council. The concept of an erasable toner and its subsequent development in Japan has gained worldwide recognition and use.

" 'CHO' MONODZUKURI Innovative Parts and Components Award 2013 (Grand Award)" for "Erasable Toner and Low Temperature Fusing Unit"

In November 2013, the "Erasable Toner and Low Temperature Fusing Unit" was awarded with " 'CHO' MONODZUKURI Innovative Parts and Components Award 2013 (Grand Award)" hosted by Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun Ltd., Japan's leading business and industry newspaper publisher and MONODZUKURI.Nippon.Conference. The award was given as a result of improvement of MFP function and realization of innovation to drastically improve environmental feature which is expected to contribute toward energy conservation and ecological society through the "Erasable Toner and Low Temperature Fusing Unit."

Chinese environment labeling certification program Outstanding Company Award Received

In October 2019, Toshiba Tec Information Systems (Shenzhen) was presented with the Chinese environment labeling certification program Outstanding Company Award by the China Environmental United Certification Center Co., Ltd., Beijing for their product environment and environment management systems. The Chinese environment labeling certification program Outstanding Company Award is presented once every five years to companies that have acquired the Chinese environment labeling certification program and who have introduced excellent environmental practices at their plants.

Loops was awarded with the total prize of ecological innovation for IT168 MFP evaluation award (China) in fiscal 2015.

It is the 5th year of this award that comprehensively evaluate s the creativity, usefulness and efficiency of products. Innovative circulation technology of Loops that allows paper to be repeatedly used was highly recognized and awarded.
