60th Anniversary of the FoundationToshiba TEC Corporation celebrated its 60th anniversary on February 21, 2010.
When I think back, we separated from the Ohito Plant - then called Tokyo Shibaura Electric Co., Ltd. (today, Toshiba Corporation), established Tokyo Electric Appliances Co., Ltd., and later renamed it Tokyo Electric Co., Ltd., and then changed the name to TEC Corporation and now Toshiba TEC Corporation.
360 employees embarked on a new business venture in 1950. Our pioneers launched production of fluorescent lighting fixtures and Japanese typewriters. Since the postwar reconstruction period and high growth period, tremendous hardships have been faced along the way, such as the dollar shock, two oil crises and a major depression after the Plaza Accord, along with the collapse of the bubble economy. However, thanks to our customers, we overcame such adversities, faced each hardship with courage and finally reached our 60th anniversary this year. I would like to extend my gratitude for your continued business and support.
Many believe that the worst is behind us, but we are still in a deep recession. Under such difficult circumstances, we would like to continue to develop our company as a valuable total solution provider, which continuously provides products and services appreciated by customers from their point of view, while further pursuing our Corporate Philosophy ""Monozukuri": creating our products with pride and passion. Keeping our customers in mind all the time and everywhere."
To mark our 60th anniversary, our company logo will be changed to "TOSHIBA." With this new logo, we will make a concerted effort to continue to be a company highly recognized by our customers. In terms of "TEC" brand products valued over the years by our customers, we will develop our business operations by enhancing brand awareness without changing the brand.
